Bridge or Bust Parts
We play this with my 10 and 5 year old daughters. We have made about 10 bridges till now. The game has a fantastic design and the parts have awesome mechanics.
The story in the comic book, alas we have not read it all, is so far lacking female participation. also my daughters do not find it, till now, very interesting. But as said, they enjoy building (the older one) and making absurd endurance tests (the younger) :D
Très long à assembler, mais belle qualité. Original et amusant!
The conception of this construction game is wonderful: my grand-children enjoyed learning how to build increasingtly complicated structures of bridges and solve problems : I admire the progressive steps that avoid frustration!
It really saddens me to write this, I and my kids are big fans of Upper Story STEM toys, and the Bridge or Bust is jet another great idea for a toy, BUT the build quality of this set is cheap and fragile. The base structures and the sails for the boat are made out of cardboard paper when they really should have been made out of firm plastic. It should had been sturdy enough to survive being put together by an adolescent kid. It's hard even for a grown up to keep the cardboard from tearing apart when different parts are supposed to be pushed together. Yes, this set is a big package and bit pricy already as it includes a lot of parts, but perhaps it should had been a bit more expensive then, with stronger foundation materials, to get a more priceworthy feel to it. To compromise on the base quality really hurts my trust for this toy maker and that is not the way to go for your products. I'm not looking for cheap, I'm looking for something better then what I typically get from the common toy store.
The included manual also needs a face lift. IKEA and LEGOI has been around long enough for you guys to have role models in the manual industry to learn from. And you really should include a QR-code to a page where the manual could be downloaded in any other language. Please make this great concept justice and do a 2.0. version, the right way.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. We are sorry to hear this was frustrating, and we would love the chance to help. Please contact us at hello@upperstory.com.
We love it; customer service is amazing. I contacted them in regards to a warped piece and within 10 min they have shipped a new replacement part. The item was expensive and shipping was costly but everyone loves it and worth it so far.

The Bridge or Bust Adventure Kit by Upper Story has been one of the most versatile and engaging STEM resources we’ve used at Area 59 (our community college makerspace). What really stands out is how seamlessly it works across a wide range of learners. We’ve used it with young adults with disabilities, a 5–7 grade homeschool group, and a group of 4th graders, and every single group was able to engage meaningfully with the experience.
The packaging is incredibly well thought out. Not only is everything organized efficiently, but the inclusion of a visual showing how the completed kit fits back into the box is a small detail that makes a big difference, especially in a classroom or makerspace setting where reset matters.
What truly elevates this kit is the storytelling. The included storybook transforms the experience from a typical STEM activity into a full adventure. Students aren’t just building bridges, they’re solving a problem, navigating challenges, and staying invested in the outcome. It never feels like a traditional lesson, yet the learning is absolutely there.
This is one of those rare resources that balances structure with creativity, making it accessible without being limiting. Whether you’re working with mixed abilities, different age groups, or looking for something that doesn’t feel like “school,” this kit delivers.
Highly recommended for classrooms, makerspaces, and anyone looking to create a meaningful, hands-on engineering experience.
The learners in my classroom have fallen in love with this toy and its challenges:-)
